It’s all about timing: selling seasonal shirts

When it comes to seasonal shirts timing is everything. I created the shirt “Live every week like it’s shark week” last year during a t-shirt competition and got them printed just in time for shark week. Until that point I hadn’t done much business online it was just hobby.  That weekend I sold 20 shirts, it was an amazing feeling.

The reason why the shark week shirt was a success last year and also a success this year was because I planned ahead and got everything set up for the week of shark week.

  • Contact blogs ahead of time. Let them know that there is time sensitive information.
  • Send them an email when it is time to remind them to post about you
  • Advertise. This is the one week out of the year where I do paid advertising. There is just a lot more return for my buck during this time and I need to capitalize on that fact.
  • Social Media.  Get on myspace, facebook, twitter. This is the only time people are going to repost your stuff.
  • SEO – I have been working on my search engine optomization for a while now and I am on the first page for image searches for “shark week” and on the second page for the term “shark week”. I have gotten a lot of hits off of google because of this work.

It’s all about timing and you need to bust your ass and go all out during this short time. If you do this the results will be well worth your time.
