Sometimes you don’t need Internet Marketing

I am fortunate enough to help a lot of clothing companies create awesome sites with my company Double Dragon Studios. While I am in there putting in all the code I also get a chance to look at all their web statistics. The one thing that surprised me the most was how little internet marketing a lot of these companies do and they still bring in a lot of sales.

What I see is most of the traffic comming from are simple google searches with the clothing companies name. So most of their traffic comes from people seeing their brand in stores and then searching them on the internet. This is one of the reasons why I think tags are very important to be well designed and have your internet address on them. They won’t always make the purchase at that store and might go online and order directly from you.

hey…I actually own my own clothing company called IDEOLOGIE. and we make organic clothing. I agree with this post 100% and this is why we made sure to make our hang tags as unique as possible. I was actually curious as to what other marketing tips you might be able to give me? We have only been in business for a short period of time and have sold well but could always sell more. Please take a look at our webpage and let me know what you think. Thanks and always enjoy reading your posts.

I have a lot of articles on this site about marketing. I would suggest you start there.

I disagree I think online Video Marketing can be a huge way into many people hearts as a brand as long as the content is relevant and interesting! You can get exposure to 100k of people over night with a amazing action sports video! Look at Red Bull

All I was saying Chuck was that there are companies that don't do internet marketing and still do well online.

Also the idea that anyone can just create an online viral video and sell tons of product is very naive. If it was so easy why isn't everyone doing it? I don't think video marketing should be on the top of your list of places to promote yourself anyway. It is a place where people go to be entertained not shop. So 1,000's of views of your video may not even correlate to a sale.

If you have done this and can speak out of experience I would gladly post your information on this site.

I was surprised to find how true this is. Actually, one of the sites that I looked to as a sort of template when starting out is one that doesn't seem to use much online marketing. I couldn't believe it when I found that out because they are a well known company and are worn by many popular bands. But they get a lot of traffic from fans of those bands who see them wearing the shirts and want one too. If only we could all get such publicity!

Just do it. We've meet a couple big bands through our shred news site we created for shred. A lot of them were excited about the shirts and wanted to help us out.
